Export Certification for Cables: CCC, CE, CB and What Each One Actually Covers

§01 — THE THREE CERTIFICATES

Cable production line running in the Lulian workshop
Production line running in the Liaocheng workshop.

CCC, CE and CB answer different questions, and none of them covers everything.

Certificates are the part of an export order most often discussed and least often understood. A buyer who treats them as a checklist ends up either over-paying for marks the destination market does not require, or under-protected because the one certificate that mattered was skipped.

§02 — WHAT EACH ONE COVERS

The scope is narrower than the logo suggests.

CertificadoWhat it actually coversWhat it does not cover
CCC (China)Mandatory for listed products sold in China — for cable, essentially fixed-installation wire up to 450/750 VMedium voltage cable; products that stay in export
CE (EU)Self-declaration against the applicable directive for the declared useIt is not a type test; the technical file behind it is what matters
CB SchemeA tested report accepted by member national bodies, easing local approvalNot a licence to sell by itself; the national mark is still required

§03 — HOW TO APPROACH IT

Start from the destination, not from the certificate list.

  • Identify the destination market’s requirement first. A utility tender in one country may demand a national type test; a private contractor in another may accept a factory type-test report with a witnessed test.
  • Ask for the scope, not the logo. A CCC certificate for building wire says nothing about a 12/20 kV feeder. Ask which construction the certificate covers.
  • Use the CB report to shorten local approvals where the destination is a member body.
  • Keep the factory’s own type-test report in the file — it is the document an inspector will actually read on site.

Our CCC certificates cover the 60227 building wire range only — we state that scope on the certificate page rather than implying wider coverage. For medium voltage, the type-test report is the governing document.

§04 — FAQ

Does CE marking mean the cable was tested in Europe?

No. CE is a declaration route. The technical file and test data behind it are what carry the weight.

Is CCC needed for cable that is exported from China?

For products that only transit or export, CCC is generally not the governing requirement — the destination market’s rules are. CCC applies to listed products placed on the Chinese market.

What is the fastest route to a new market?

A CB report against the relevant IEC standard, plus the destination’s national mark where required. Ask the factory which standards its type tests already align with.

Next step

Send us the specification and we will check it against IEC 60502-2.

Voltage class, cores, conductor material, armour type, cross-section and destination port — that is everything we need to come back with a drawing, a datasheet and a drum plan.
