§01 — Three armour levels

Same cable core, three levels of protection.

ModelArmour classConstrucciónInstallation
GYTANon-armoured, APL moisture barrierCorrugated aluminium-polyethylene laminate (APL) longitudinal wrap under a single PE sheath. Lightest weight; rodent and crush protection is limited.Duct · aerial (lashed)
GYTSLight armoured, PSP tapeCorrugated chrome-plated steel-polyethylene laminate (PSP) wrap under a single PE sheath. Better crush and rodent resistance than GYTA.Duct · aerial

Common core: fibres in PBT loose tubes with water-blocking compound, phosphated steel-wire central strength member (PE-coated for higher core counts), tubes and fillers stranded around the CSM, water-blocking fillers in the interstices.

§04 — FAQ

Common questions on outdoor optical cable.

GYTA vs GYTS vs GYTA53 — which one do I need?

By installation: protected duct with low crush risk → GYTA (lightest, cheapest). Duct or aerial with moderate crush / rodent risk → GYTS. Direct burial or high mechanical risk → GYTA53 (double sheath + armour). All three share the same cable core and fibre performance, so the choice costs you only sheath and armour money.

What fibre counts can you produce?

24 to 576 cores in loose-tube stranded designs (4×6 up to 24×24 tube configurations). Centre-tube designs (GYXTW) cover 2–24 cores for access networks. Ribbon designs (GYDTA / GYDTS) for high-count backbones on request.

Which fibre type should be specified — G.652D or G.655?

G.652D is the default for metro, access and FTTH: lowest cost, full 1310/1550 nm windows. G.655 (NZDSF) suits long-haul DWDM links where dispersion management matters. For FTTH drop and in-building runs, ask for G.657A1/A2 bend-insensitive fibre.

Can the cable be supplied with LSZH sheath for tunnels?

Yes. Flame-retardant LSZH sheathed versions are produced against confirmed specification, with IEC 60332-3 flame performance and IEC 61034 / 60754 smoke and halogen verification.
