Buying low-voltage power cable for an export project starts with the electrical design, installation route and required conformity documents—not with conductor size alone. This guide gives distributors, contractors and EPC buyers a concise checklist for preparing an accurate request for quotation.
Confirm the rated voltage and system
State the system voltage, earthing arrangement and whether the cable is for a main feeder, sub-main, distribution board or final circuit. For many low-voltage distribution applications, buyers ask for 0.6/1kV XLPE insulated power cable, but the project engineer must confirm the correct rating.
Choose conductor material, cores and cross-section
Specify copper or aluminium conductor, the number of cores and the required nominal cross-sectional area in mm². Match construction to the installation route
- Unarmoured cable may suit protected trays, ducts or indoor routes.
- Steel tape or steel wire armoured cable is considered where mechanical protection is required.
- Outer sheath selection should reflect moisture, sunlight, chemical exposure and installation conditions.
Prepare conformity and marking requirements
For export orders, state the destination market, applicable standard, required conformity or project documentation, cable marking language, drum length, packing method and inspection requirements. Requirements must be confirmed before production because documentation and marking cannot be treated as an afterthought.
