POWER + FIBER COMPOSITE · OPLC / OPMC / GDTS

One trench, two networks — optical fiber composite power cable.

OPLC, OPMC and GDTS put a power conductor and an optical fibre unit in the same cable. You lay one route instead of two: power and communication arrive together for smart grids, FTTH-in-building and remote sites that need both energy and data on a single run.

§01 — Product lines

Three composite designs.

OPLC

Fiber composite LV cable

0.6/1 kV power cores with an integrated optical unit. The standard choice for FTTH-in-building and smart-metering rollouts where power and fibre enter the building together.

OPMC

Fiber composite MV cable

Medium-voltage XLPE construction (up to 35 kV class) with an optical unit in the interstices — feeder monitoring, distributed sensing and grid communication on the power route itself.

GDTS

Hybrid optical-electric cable

Optical fibres plus insulated copper conductors in one sheath — for remote cameras, base stations and sensors that need both power and data on a single run.

§02 — General construction

How a composite cable is built.

The table below shows the generic structure of each composite family. Lulian’s conductor sizes, fibre counts and types, armouring and sheath materials are fixed per project and quoted in the construction proposal.

TypePower elementOptical elementVoltage classTypical use
OPLCLV power cores, Cu or Al, 0.6/1 kV1–24 fibres in a central or stranded unit0.6/1 kVFTTH-in-building, smart metering
OPMCMV XLPE insulated coresOptical unit in the cable intersticesup to 35 kV classFeeder monitoring, grid comms
GDTSInsulated copper conductorsOptical fibres + copper power in one sheathLV / signalRemote cameras, base stations, sensors

Typical GDTS copper conductor: 1.5 mm² class, DC resistance ≈ 13.3 Ω/100 m (IEC 60228 reference). These are generic reference values — Lulian’s confirmed construction is supplied with the project proposal.

§03 — Standards referenced

Standards we build composite cables to.

IEC 60794-1 (optical fibre cables)
IEC 60502 (power cables)
GB/T 7424 (optical cable)
GB/T 12706 (MV power)
ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001

Composite cables are engineered to IEC 60794-1, IEC 60502, GB/T 7424 and GB/T 12706 against the customer’s specification. ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 system certification is in place (valid to 2027-12-26). Certificate numbers are shared on request and with each order.

§04 — Where composites win

Applications that justify a single-cable solution.

SMART GRID

Feeder monitoring & communication

OPMC carries grid communication and distributed temperature/sensing on the power route itself — no second trench for the fibre.

FTTH

Building entry, power + fibre

OPLC delivers 0.6/1 kV power and the subscriber fibre in one drop, simplifying smart-metering and in-building broadband rollouts.

REMOTE

Cameras, base stations, sensors

GDTS powers and connects remote assets on a single run where a separate power and data cable is impractical.

TRENCH

One route, lower civils

Combining power and fibre cuts trenching, duct and joint count on new-build and retrofit projects.

§05 — What we need from your RFQ

Five inputs lock the composite design.

  1. Power requirement — voltage class (LV 0.6/1 kV, MV up to 35 kV, or signal) and load current.
  2. Fibre requirement — count, type (single/multi-mode) and whether loose-tube or tight-buffered.
  3. Route & environment — burial, duct, aerial; temperature, moisture, rodent/termite risk.
  4. Armour & sheath — steel tape, steel wire, or unarmoured; PVC, PE, LSZH.
  5. Standards & inspection — IEC / GB; third-party inspection (SGS / BV / TÜV) if required.

FAQ

Common questions on composite cables.

Is the fibre protected from the power core?

Yes. In OPLC/OPMC the optical unit sits in a dedicated interstice or central tube with buffer and moisture barrier, physically separated from the current-carrying cores so power faults do not damage the fibre.

Can you mix conductor size and fibre count?

Composite designs are engineered per project: power core size, fibre count and type, armour and sheath are all configurable. Send the single-line diagram or the application and we return a construction proposal.

What testing do you provide?

Routine tests on every reel with a mill test certificate. Type-test coverage for composite cables is confirmed against the certified standard and quoted with the order.

How is it installed versus two separate cables?

One cable, one trench, one set of joints — fewer civil works and simpler coordination. The fibre is terminated like any optical cable; the power cores are terminated like any LV/MV cable.

Send the single-line diagram. We return a composite construction proposal.
