LOW VOLTAGE POWER CABLE · 0.6/1 kV · IEC 60502-1 · GB/T 12706.1

0.6/1 kV XLPE Power Cable — YJV / YJLV / YJV22.

Copper or aluminium XLPE-insulated power cable for distribution and industrial supply: unarmoured for trays and ducts, steel-tape armoured (YJV22/YJLV22) for direct burial. 1.5–400 mm², single to five cores.

§01 — Type designations

Four type codes, two decisions.

Technical data — reference only. Figures in the tables below are reference values for early-stage project comparison. Conductor size, insulation and sheath thickness, overall diameter, DC resistance and ampacity are confirmed against the approved cable schedule and the applicable standard (IEC 60502-1 / GB/T 12706.1) before production. Ampacity is quoted for installation in free air at 40 °C ambient; ratings for buried, in-conduit or tray installation differ. Dimensional and electrical tolerances follow the relevant standard.

Insulation thickness per IEC 60502-1 for 0.6/1 kV XLPE. Ampacity depends on installation method, grouping and soil conditions — issued in the project datasheet with the formal offer.

§03 — Construction

Simple cable, but the details decide the lifetime.

CONDUCTOR

Class 1 solid / class 2 stranded

Copper or aluminium. Sector-shaped (SM) conductors for multi-core ≥ 25 mm² keep the overall diameter down.

INSULATION

XLPE, 90 °C

Cross-linked polyethylene, rated 90 °C continuous and 250 °C short-circuit — one temperature class above PVC (VV) cable of the same size.

ARMOUR + SHEATH

STA + PVC ST2

Galvanized steel-tape armour under a PVC outer sheath for the 22 types. PE and LSZH sheaths on request.

§04 — FAQ

Common questions on LV power cable.

XLPE (YJV) vs PVC (VV) cable — which should we buy?

For new installations, XLPE almost always wins: 90 °C vs 70 °C conductor rating means a smaller cross-section for the same load, better short-circuit withstand, and lower dielectric loss. PVC (VV/VLV) still makes sense for price-driven replacements in existing PVC installations. We produce both families.

When is the armoured YJV22 required?

Whenever the cable is direct-buried, pulled through rough ducts, or exposed to mechanical damage. The steel-tape armour also provides a degree of rodent protection. For tray and indoor installations, unarmoured YJV is lighter, cheaper and easier to terminate.

Copper or aluminium — how do we decide?

Rule of thumb: aluminium for long feeders where weight and cost dominate (you need roughly 1.6× the cross-section for equal resistance); copper for terminations-dense panels, high fault levels and where termination volume is limited. Aluminium terminations must use bimetallic lugs — confirm this in the RFQ and we note it on the drum card.

Can you supply LSZH versions?

Yes — WDZ-YJY (LSZH) and WDZN-YJY (LSZH fire-resistant) are standard variants for tunnels, metros, hospitals and public buildings, verified against IEC 61034 and IEC 60754.
